Dentistry, A Suicidal Profession - 972 Words

Dentistry, a Suicidal Profession Dentists are doctors, trained to diagnose and treat problems related to the oral cavity; commonly known as the tooth doctor. Moreover, they are highly trained individuals who have worked their way through four years of college and four rigorous years of dental school. One might assume a dentist would be satisfied with the high achievements they have accomplished with their life. Although this may be true, dentists have to overcome significant obstacles to advance to the pinnacle of their profession. They might earn a large salary, but shockingly a dentist’s suicide rate is twice the rate of the general human population (â€Å"Lang, Randy†)! Even though becoming a dentist might look from the outside to be an awarding and prospering career; dentists are in the highest percentile for suicide rates due to a variety of stresses they encounter throughout their work experience. There are extensive factors that may affect a dentist’s stress levels leading towards depression and suicide. One factor that is present in every dentist’s life is the interminable journey of medical school. Studying for rigorous finals and economic pressure from the student loans collected over the years are two leading stressors. The average debt of a dental school graduate is $247,227. Holding ownership of six figure loans with interest is an enormous burden. Even with that much debt to handle; however, a number of dentists decide to open up their own private practice.Show MoreRelatedSuicide : A High Risk Of Suicide1777 Words   |  8 PagesMany people think of dentistry and other healthcare careers as stressful professions and the media has repeatedly represented dentists as health care workers that are at a high risk of committing suicides. The Historical Significance free essay sample

To answer the question, what is the historical significance of 9/11 the first idea I would like to bring up is that it was the first effective attach on American soil in a long time. Before we get into the history making lets talk a little bit about why the attach happened. The reason the terrorists attach us is because their anger flowed from three rivers of rage the fist one is the anger and frustration they have because their civilization was once first in the world and now they are fighting for next to last, the second is the mere fact the United States supports Israel and the last is that we support some of the Muslim dictators. The Muslim people as a whole look at America as a big bully, and they believe that we are beating them up. One Muslim Politian said that they look at 9/11 as if they had punched us in the nose. We will write a custom essay sample on The Historical Significance or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Or as if they are defending themselves from the bully. Now let’s look at what they believe why they attached us from a religious point of view. It all started when Osama Bin laden met up with his partner Dr. Iman Alsuwlkery, Iman was responsible for taking their religion and twisting it to fit their needs. By doing this it convinced their men to do things as suicide bomb or drive planes into buildings. In Muslim countries religion is a very big part of their life, so if it tells them to do crazy things to be loved by their god then they will do what ever it takes to do it. Now for the historical significance of 9/11, I believe that 9/11 is a turning point in the history of the world. It makes the beginning of change in the way the entire world operates. Because of 9/11 air ports are operated differently, meaning that it takes a lot longer to get through security because they a much more through now. Also 9/11 marks the beginning of a war that the United States has started by evading Iraq. 9/11 has also changed or views on foreign policy and they way we conduct our relations with other countries. 9/11 has made an entire group of people profiled. And it is their own fault really. Because they decide to attack us they have categorized their entire race of people as American hated terrorists. History was made on September the 11, 2001 when two planes were high jacked and flown into buildings known as the twin towers in New York City. Countless lives were lost, then even more from the search parties looking through the rubble. 9/11 is know as an historical event and is remembered as the wide spread of terrorism. Children will learn about what happened in schools, they will be taught why these events will happen as well. Then they will learn about another historical event that has spiraled out off 9/11 and that will be the United States evading Iraqi. There they troops encountered terrorists and an out of control society. In which a dictator had all the power and money he wanted, but his country was poor and he was killing people because they looked at him the wrong way. All of this and more is some of the history made from 9/11 So all in all to answer the question what is the historical significance of 9/11 I would say that it is a point of change, a turning point of the entire world. 9/11 is not also a date that will be not only be remembered, but it will be looked at as when we decided to take action for what had happened to our country and out people.
